I explained in an earlier blogpost that the diary my mum (Doreen Buckle) kept in 1947 was tiny and her entries in it were very concise. It struck me the other day that she would have been really good at Twitter. The requirement is that you write tweets in less than 140 characters. Each of these diary entries meets that requirement and not only tells the story of Mrs Wingfield's Mother but manages to include information about Doreen's workplace, her leisure activities and the weather!
Monday 14th April
Mrs Wingfield’s Mother has pneumonia. Went to work not too bad. Lovely weather still holding out. Played tennis at night had very good games.
Wednesday 16th April
Still nice weather. Mrs W’s Mother a bit better. Went to night school. Not too bad.
Thursday 17th April
